hi everyone, yes, we are in Denmark, and staying at kolding, which is a few kilometres north of where we started our visit in Denmark. We stayed with Claus jensen's family, he was our trainee in 2004 thru Agriventure. At the moment its holidays, so Claus is home with his mum and dad, Ulla and Soren, and sister Katrine. They live about 10ks north of the german border, in ahouse in the countryside. Claus's dad is a herd tester for the expanding dairy industry. The day after we arrived, we went and saw where Claus worked over the holidays (he is at university normally), a huge 300 cow operation, with five milking robots. All the cows were indoors. They looked quite contented as they munched on a mixture of silage, maize and grass and minerals etc...
We also visited the Danish Queen's Summer house -Isabel was very interested in the little house for the prince and princesses, which to us looked like quite a large normal size house, but compared to the palace was a dwarf.
Yesterday, we drove up here in two cars, and the family showed us around KOlding, the danish city is much easier to get around than the crowded german towns, where finding parking is very difficult. Having our local guides helped of course, but denmark is more familar to us, with wider roads etc.... We found out the library has this free internet service where we are now, doing this blog!
Well we hope you are all well and happy. Isabel celebrated her 7th birthday in style also yesterday -she started the day by being head of the table with the Danish flag infront of her, and a special slice with 7 candles on it! Then later that day we had lunch at a restaurant here, Jensen's Steak House (jensen is a very common danish surname) and the kids had hamburgers and chips - (a step up from McDonalds) and we had steak and as much salad as we could eat - marvellous. then we went shopping and Isabel chose a new pair of trainers - they were about 80 nz dollars . more expensive here, but then they look good quality. Then we bought some ice-cream and went back to the bach on our own .
we will write more next time. bye for now.
