Following an early start for a change we made good headway down route 101, again mostly along the coastline, looking at the sea, trees and eagles. Several hours later we made a pit stop in Port Orford for brunch. Then we drove 80 odd miles through thick sea mist till we hit Eureka. It doesn't get anymore exciting than that. Although we did stop in a redwood foest to check out more trees. Big trees. no bears though. Or elk.
Driving done we headed to the local bowling alley, where bloody MJ won 2-1. My head was hung in shame.
So off we went to the bar where we made chums with a redneck called Kyle. He had bullets in his truck. And appeared to be an alcoholic. We got on nicely, if a little freaked out. Sadly he left (probably to kill something), so we got on the white russians and made new friends, mainly the chaps behind the bar, and some girls from Micronesia (MJ - "You made that place up!"). They were very shouty and it appears UB40 are very big in that part of the world. Again, they left (maybe we smell, it's hard to tell anymore), but the barmen wanted to hangout. Which led to us drinking whisky and cokes in the carpark till maybe 3 in the morning, when the world started spinning and I made my excuses and left for a jolly sleep.
Raccoons as roadkill - 2.
