Righty Ho, back in the modern world, who'd have thought the capital of the USA would have so few internet sights? Wifi galore, but I never thought of taking my laptop on holiday...
Washington DC... The place to be if you want to spend a couple of days looking at historic buildings and monuments and checking out a few museums (including textiles and women in art!!)... Unfortunately we booked in for 5 nights in 90 plus degrees heat, and once you realise the nightlife is virtually non existant, and you're staying in the arse end of nowhere, the city loses its appeal most raplidly!
Its not a good sign when the highlight of the stay is finding a bar to watch Spurs lose to Everton (classic), and drinking Yuengling lager (headache after 4 pints, being served by Zelda from Terrorhawks ugly sister)!
Its not all bad though... Mini pretzels filled with peanut butter... More hot buffalo wings at 15 cents a pop in the big Hunt Bar... 8 bucks for half a bbq chicken and sides in Capital Q, a top 100 washington restaurant 2001... Drunks ranting on the bus at 11 in the morning (neither me nor John by the way)... And a marvellous discovery on the final night... The Brickskellar Pub... 2002 Guiness Book of records winner for most beers available in any pub, over 500 of the beauties!
But like I said, not enough for 5 nights, but you live and learn what what.
The windy city next (hopefully un buffalo wing related)...
PS, my feet would now be grand in the wild... They have a jolly zebra effect thanks to the sun and sandles mix....
