Hey all! Wow so many random things, maybe first I would like to thank so many of you for your best wishes. I feel very special knowing so many people care! This last little while has just been settling in and finding our feet. On Saturday we started teaching. So many students have responded well. If they could im sure they would eat us! Meaning that in a good way! So anyway we have just spent most of the time with intros as the teachers don't know many students either. We spent double periods getting them to ask us any questions they like, though each class had the same questions! Kirri and I havent done a class together at all. So we get our own students. The same questions are: age, family, sport, what famous places, do we like malaysia, its food, whats the difference, and I think you get the picture.SO many children are suprised we eat rice in Australia, (we are from planet earth!)One classic moment was when Kirri was asked how she got so white. You don't know how tempting it was to go "well everynight I scrub for two hours" like der. Although I believe if she had said that he may have tried it out. Kirri just said, well my mum doesnt paint me. (Hehe)As we are mostly teaching form 2 for now they are very weak. None of them got an A in their exam from my classes. Which im malaysia is a big deal. So much so that 36 student werent allowed to return for not getting a high enough mark. SAD.So we have to work really just to get them to understand us.As for form 4/5 they are nearly fluent. And love to talk as they realise how close in age we are.The staff here are so good to us. Anything we need they will get, and pay for meals, I think we have paid for 2 all up. So lovely. Last night was fantastic. The girls took us out to a traditional malay screen. A play with dance and song, OK we didnt understand half but it was fun to watch. Photos are up.This weekend 7 of us are going to Langkawi, an island that has all white beaches and is tax free!! WOOP so we are leaving tomorrow morning and coming back Sunday night. We are staying in a hostel, for like $15 a night. So I will take photos and put them up too.Another funny story?? Well the other day one of our friends was fiddling with her headscarf. I asked "what are you doing?" to hear the respose of "well do you know how you have bad hair days?? Well im having a bad scarf day!" I just didnt no what to say. But I still chuckle when I rote that! More news? Well I taught my first lesson on Tuesday, and the real teacher didnt even come in. But it went excellent, I wasnt nervous at all and all they did was ask Question after question and listen, did they ever. Listening is a sign of understanding, otherwise they will talk over the top of you. So today is my 2nd 1st lesson. My first lesson with form 2D I had form 2A on tues. I am just doing the same thing though. It will take some time to work out what they really need to work on. Kirri and I have finally worked out when the childrens lunch, snacks and supper are. WOOP banana cake, watermelon, LOTS OF YUM THINGS!!! we also have been keeping up on washing using a teachers washing machine, she is the nicest! All of our clothes dry over night under the fan. Crazy! But clean clothes are sooooo nice! I have officially read 5 novels, tv sucks!! But there is a radio station that we found all we need is a radio!O and the bold and the beautiful is on here as well! Good fun. its advertised as the most watched and longest lasting daytime television show! Lol.. Good luck, and then one day I changed channels to find a cartoon we have in Australia I was like WOW, but they have dubbed it in malay, so the mouths move to english words but malay is spoken! So their mouths stop but the words keep going!I cant remeber much more, im sure ill post this and ill think of more, so I mite ad more soon. Thanks again, Love you all!Danae/ doonay/ white girl
