Hello everyone,
im very sorry for the lack of updates. What a past two weeks!
I think you have the jist of most of it, but ill explain Penang(chinese new year) and the past week for you!
We had 6 of us go to penang, excited that we would get to see street partys and dancing dragons. The weekend was 5 days so we had all the time in the world to explore this little island of wonders! This island is the only one connected by a bridge. and its the longest bridge in south Asia... or something like that! So we used our heads and went for our own tours, run by our travels books! we got to explore little india, and china town! It was the first time kirri and I had tried real Indian food. It was AWESOME!! we are addicted!
In little India we bought braclets and hohars. Very fun! One day we went up Penang hill, this is a steep hill with temples up the top and beautiful views. though within 10mins of getting up there it clouded over. HAHA. to get up the top it means a little train. I will put photos up cause its hard to explain! but whilst we were there we had the experience of Malays taking photos of us without our permission or a Boy sending his girl to sit near us to get us in the photo! arhh the times! lol we have all decided itt will be wierd when we get home and people dont stare at us!
In the arvo of the new year we meant 4 sweedish boys that are all 19 and traveling the world, being boys they hadnt spoken to their families since our new year! So we hung out with them! what a change of atmosphere, and we could walk down the street without wolf whisltes and kissing noises! that night we went in search of dragons tp find that they werent dancing this year?!?! so becuase of Australia day we found a pub full of Aussies and danced the night away!
this past week teaching has been an experience. We had a break down day when we found out the internet wasnt working. Then the next day we were loaned the broadband. I left my laptop to kirri who was worse off than me and set off to combined our two classes. 60 kids! we played games and We all had a ball! it was great! on the same day a teacher had to go to hospital and i was asked 15mins before her double period started to run that class! yes i now believe im a super woman!
On monday Maleah started her first day at school, and my day at school was shakey, i cant beleive she is that big!
on tues it was Kirris birthday and it was sooo funny! I made posters and stuck them all around, kids gave her card after card and then it was class. One of her classes put money in to buy a cake. so whilst kirri had no idea why i was in her class with a camera, thekids prepared to suprise her with oreo cake! her face was priceless! we then went to secret reciepe (the best cake shop!) after wards. Then yesterday we went bowling with 2 of the other girls.Andfor the whole week before kirri had complained that it would be just another day.... I didnt let that happen!
Also on her birthday we got home to find a full fridge/freezer in our house. We have been asking for one for weeks to no avail. So i asked the girls in our home if it was theres. it turned out sum1 gave it to us~!! woop, cold water, milk, yoghurt, etc etc!!
then yesterday we found out that an english teacher was finally having her baby! i was so exctied! she had it through the arvo and so after bowling we went and visited her! she had to have a c-section in the end but now has a beautiful baby girl, the teacher is at least a head smaller than me and her baby is 3.6kg. we got to see her baby in the nursery through the window, feeling guilty that she hadnt even got to see her yet! the staff had already combed her hair with a side part and she was sleeping soundly. SO CUTE.. Hey mally can you shrink a little?? what an experience to get to see her.
All is well now! as you can prob tell! this weekend we are going to the tea plantations. many more photos!
i do have more to rite but i will be late to class otherwise! so ill update you when i get home from the highlands and then you will finally be up to speed!
Im missing you all, Love you all stacks!
