ITALY - DAY 1
Drama this morning, our phone stopped working and we spent the morning trying to contact Australia to get it fixed. Finally after a visit from the janitor, a change of phones and several miscommunications we finally got hold of a girl named Mia from the sim card company and our phone was fixed. It only took several hours.
So after a morning of phone calls we set off with a name of a shop where we could purchase Angelique's birthday present. We wandered through the streets. We couldn't find the shop so we continued over a bridge into another part of the city. We struggled through several misdirections from locals before finally turning around and heading back, where you guessed it, we found the shop. Slight problem though, it was shut for lunch siesta and wouldn't be open again until after 3pm. Talk about a long lunch break. Four hours. Only wish home could be like that.
Since we couldn't purchase it, we headed back to the hotel and caught the train across the city to a huge shopping centre. Again locals set us on a wide goose chase but we spotted the massive sign and headed towards it. This place was huge. Supposedly it is the largest shopping centre in Europe. All I know is that walking around one level I don't think we came back to where we entered. Grandad bought a new phone so now we are finally able to contact him if we get lost. A little late but better late than never.
We headed back to the hotel. An epic journey of walk, bus, train line B, train line A, urban train and walk up the street.
