We Spent a nice afternoon in Historic St. Mary's, Ga. It's a very small town but has a nice waterfront on the St. Mary's River. We had Gator Burgers and Mac & Cheese for lunch at a local diner. It was the warmest weather that we have had since we left St. Pete, so glad for that....see more photos in St. Mary's Ga. Album.

We left NASJAX this morning and have arrived at Kingsbay Submarine Station Ga (Home of the Trident Submarines). The Rv park here is very nice, there are fire pits, wifi and cable. We are not too far from a lake and there seem to be some pretty good walking trails. I have taken a few pictures and we will do some more exploring tomorrow

On Saturday we ventured down to Jacksonville Landing which is located in downtown Jacksonville on the St. John's riverfront. It was a beautiful day watching the boats go up and down the river. There are quite a few shops at the landing but we were surprised to see how many were closed or out of business. I guess Jacksonville is struggling to maintain and promote their downtown as are a lot of other cities. Don said Jacksonville is called the "City of Bridges...

Spent the day at Jacksonville Beach. It's the first day that its been warm enough to even consider going to the beach. The water is about 60 but it felt good on our feet. We walked out on the pier and watched people fish. The 3 guys at the end of the pier pulled in 4 sharks in about 20 minutes. They were saying on the news that a species of sharks are migrating north right off of the coast...so maybe these were part of that migration. They were all the same ...

Spent the afternoon at Tillie K Fowler Park, a 509 acre park right across the street from NASJAX main gate. It's all woods with several nature trails, a tower, nature center, picnic area, playground and a huge dog park. It used to be an army post in 1917 for horse soldiers. Its nice that the land was preserved and turned into a park. See more pics in the Tillie K Fowler album
