My Mahalo week on board! I didn't even know there was such a thing called a Mahalo week until Alex texted me saying it was and Michelle explained to me that it was your second to last week of your contract...
WEEK 39- Saturday I met my parents outside the terminal and we discussed what we were going to do and how I was going to get a new phone. They took the shuttle and went to pick up their rental car and I walked to the Ala Moana mall only to find out there was no Verizon store there and no one was really helpful. I ran into Audrey at Nordstrom and she was able to tell me where there was a store and kindly said if I needed more time I didn't have to be at work till later which was a huge lifesaver! So I made it to the Verizon store and my parents were finally able to meet up with me there, and we had issues of trying to get a hold of each other so my dad had to try and call me from a pay phone but I got a new iPhone and luckily I was due for an upgrade! We grabbed some lunch at the Nordstrom cafe. When I got to work I had a chance to meet Anissa, the girl who is replacing me. That evening was the fourth of July crew party, which wasn't that great at all. but I did get a chance to hangout with Anissa and by the end of the night she even said she was sad that I'm leaving and she really looks forward to working with me when I get back to the ship. I was talking to Emily and Anissa after the party telling them how frustrated I was not knowing for sure if I was coming back to the ship so I could properly say my goodbyes, and plan on the future.
Sunday was my day off I slept in till 11am and then tagged along with Michelle and Ivan and cruised for a bit around maui we went to paia and got smoothies, a guy gave us free mangos at the smoothie shop. Then we just started heading up the road to Hana to kill some time before Ivan had to meet up with his friend. It was Ivan's Aloha day. Once Michelle and I got back to the ship I ran into Alex, he was telling me about how he wanted to go scout out locations to watch the sunrise but he didn't have enough time so, because Michelle and I didn't have any luck with renting a car ourselves and because I'm cute… I talked him into letting me borrow his rental to scout locations for him considering it would be the last time I would see the sunrise in Maui. Alex gave me the keys and told me not to tell anyone he did this, haha he gets so paranoid. I ran down to my cabin and told Michelle I got a car for us! Laundry was the first thing on our list to do. While I was at the laundromat I looked up a few nice beaches that may be good to watch the sunrise and figured the black sand beach on road to Hana would be a nice place and Alex agreed. After laundry Michelle and I cruised around to find a place to watch the sunset. She took me to a place Aaron and her had watched the sunset before and It was gorgeous. After the sun went down we picked up Aaron from the ship and drove to Lahaina. Originally I wanted to go to Mama's fish house which is an extremely expensive restaurant that everyone raves about because they have the freshest of fresh fish and a beautiful location right on the beach but they were booked for the night. We drove to Lahaina and ate at this great italian restaurant that I always wanted to try and they had a jazz band playing which made my night!
Monday morning Alex knocks on my door at 2:30am for us to head out to catch the sunrise. He didn't realize that the got up an hour early and waited for Christian and I an entire hour. We said we would meet up at 3:30 and Alex was totally getting annoyed until he realized he read his watch wrong. The drive was a couple hours thats why we got up so early, I was exhausted because I still had to work a 10-10 shift that day but I think it was worth it, the sunrise was amazing. Once we got there it was raining a little and then it started pouring so we ran into a little cave that's right on the beach until the rain stopped. The ride back down Hana, Alex let me drive, we all betted on what time we would make it back to the ship and I won! We even had to pull over and let christian out to puke… he got so car sick I had never seen anyone throw up like that from motion sickness. He'll probably hate me for saying this but it just makes for a great adventure story. He blamed it on Alex for letting a girl drive but I told him he should stop being such a girl lol. That evening I met a girl struggling with leukemia she was 21 and has been battling it since she was 16, she's from san diego and she was telling me about how she's a writer which I thought was awesome. She has a few different books she's working on and plans on publishing them one day, she likes the whole fiction vampier romance thing but tries to tie it into christianity like CS Lewis does with the Chronicles of Narnia. Actually I met quite a few interesting people this week but I can't quite remember them all.
Tuesday, I don't remember what went on tuesday.
Wednesday I thought I'd make it through my contract not having to do a manicure or pedicure on someone with 6 fingers or toes but that didn't happen. I had a lady that had 12 toes, she didn't say anything about it so I went on with the pedicure trying to make it seem like it wasn't out of the ordinary, I don't know what's worse… working on someone with a missing finger or with an extra toe… The first response everyone has when I tell them I had a lady with 6 toes is "did you charge her more?" I just think its hilarious that that's the first thing people think of!
Thursday the spa team all met up with Gina for her Aloha dinner at JJ's broiler. After JJ's Michelle and I were determined to get some Hula pie because she had never had it before and she took her medicine so she could eat some! (she's allergic to dairy) Bethany, Emily and Eric joined us at Dukes and they got to try some Hula pie for the first time as well. Although Michelle and I pretty much devoured it ourselves. While we were there Bethany told us a story about her friend who says she could get away with anything by just giggling and saying,"I'm cute!" I thought it was hilarious and said I should try it. Duke has these plates specifically for their Hula pie that I thought were so cute and I really really wanted to steal the one we were eating off of but that would require Michelle and I to lick the entire plate clean of ice-cream and chocolate syrup and stuff it in Bethany's purse but we just couldn't do it. Our server, Chase, came by and picked up the plate and I asked him if I could have it and he said "no, but I think you could buy one for like 12 bucks." Eric responded with, "come on, she's cute!" and we all laughed and I said "yeah I'm cute!" but it didn't work.
Friday Michelle and I went to the show, neither of us had watched it before but we finally got off work early enough to see it. It's a little cheesy but it really makes the crew feel like family on board. After the show we watched beauty and the beast in Brendan's cabin along with trevor. Michelle had never seen it!
