Hello All,
So here is my catch up blog to fill you in on the last 3 days!!! I am still very tired but i can not keep you guys waiting any longer!!
So...
11th November
Today i chilled in the morning spent some time doing the chores washing ect ect... boring boring then the lovely Nina invited me to her home for Dinner saturday evening... Nina is a lovely, smiley lady who works for Ngima's wonderful comapany Nepal Myths And Mountain Trails. Everyday she says hello and asks me how i am and i do the same but we never get chance to chat more than this so i asked her if she would like to have dinner with me and instead she invited me to her home!! Then i walked to Sujans at around 2:30 and met sachin and hari (havi same guy just been spelling in wrong!) We were very chilled and made our way to Swayambhunath which is a wonderful place which sits high above the city. I have been there once before that time i climb the massivly steep stone staircase this time i was not so foolish and instead i walked the lazy way... Rob the monkeys are very cheaky because they steel people's bags thinking there is food in it!! Naughty monkeys!! So after wandering around for a while and flicking coins into the world peace pond which sachin managed to flick into the bowl! The cancentration on his face was funny!! We then wandered down turning loads of prayer wheels on the way! We then got into a bus and headed for Themal. Even with hari lost we made it and went to a coffee shop. Now let me just expain this coffee shop... it was home... the coffe was the same the place was the same... it even had a english breakfast which i offered to treat the boys to... now there is like 9 coming its gonna be an expensive one... hari did joke and say there will be 100!! Funny guy!! So i had a gingerbread hotchocolate and the boys had buttersotch. The food was delicious too and in normal nepalese tradtion we all shared!! Then went by bus to the cafe to meet the other lot... we chatted and drank tea and wandered home. Becoming quite a routine i like it and will miss it when i go to Pokhara!!
12th November
Today was the tired day but very good day...
I woke up at 6am (first think which made me tired)
Then i walked to Sujans home to meet him and Hari... Today Sujan was able to come as he had a day off for a festival no teaching today...
We then did alot of bus travelling (second thing which added to the tiredness) We had to take 3 buses the journey took overall maybe 4 hrs Long time. On the last bus although extreamly bumpy went through some lovely views of contryside and we could see people harvesting rice!!
When we arrived we then had to walk maybe 40 mins STEEPLY!!!! It was a killer walk ( third thing which made me even more tired) And for some strange reson my boots rubbed my heels so i now have a blister on each foot!! Strange i can do a 10 day walk no rubbing a 1 day walk and 2 blisters!!
When we reached the top it was all worth it the views where magnificent even though it was a but hazy... The monestry was beautiful so bright and viberent... In side people were painting the walls it was fasinating to watch. They sat crossed legged for hours painting with tiny brushes. Very intricate work. Then after a photo with a lama and after turning many more prayer wheels we walked down which took 15 mins. Feet killing by this point!!
After the 3 buses back i was soooo tired i tried to sleep on the bus but with very bumpy roads its impossible. Then we headed to the cafe we walked in sat down said hello hari drank a cup of tea and we left (and for this and my triedness i appologise boys!!) We then went via food to a river where many people where celebrating the festival. It was dark and they had many lights which reflected beautifully off the water of the river there were lines and lines of people (familys) who sleep out all night with food offering to god and candles which they have to keep alight all night and then in the morning they worship the sun! Lovely i have wonderful pictures.Sujan forgive me for forgetting the name of the festival!! Then we got a taxi home lazy yes but tired, headache, hungry and poorly feet too!! Now for the funny part of the day... Hari today carried my bag like a true gentleman and he joked that when we ha the bag he was the riches man in Nepal because of my ATM cards and such like... Then at the end of the day we said good bye and me and Sujan got the taxi and hari being close to home walked... A few mins later Sujan got a call... He still had my bag he ran to meet us and i joked saying you are determined to run away with my bag VERY FUNNY!!
13th November
So firstly i would just like to make an offical appology to my mum and les i appologise for waking you up at stupid o clock i added the time up wrong and thought it would be at least 6:30!! I hate that i have to wait till the afternoon to ring you when i have something exciting to tell you from the morning!! Dam time difference!!
Anyhoo today us early again and this time me, Sujan, Ngima and his driver went to Gamcha to see the water project. Let me expalin
Many years ago 3rd Buxton Scouts helped to raise money to build 2 water taps for 2 small villages outside of Kathmandu. The work was done by Sujans scout group and the wells where installed. This is what we went to see today.
So we drove for maybe 30 ish mins before we arrived and we walked a little to the village the first one was to say the least dissapointing. They are not using the water taps there are locks on the taps and instead they use one which is a few mins walk away instead of one right on the doorstep... Very dissapointing BUT the next village was a different story... They used the water at 5pm when every house gets 2 containers of water. So it gets use and the village regulate it so as not to run out much better result!! It was strange to see a plaque in Nepal with 3rd Buxton Scouts and to see the derby ram!! So on the way back me and Sujan got dropped off at Thamel area to go to the garden of dreams. This place is wonderful chilled garden which feels like you are no where near Kathmandu!! Its beautiful place full of flowers, ponds with goldfish and grass great for a wedding or classical concert... We then had a meal and drinks.. then we wandered round thamel and chilled more very chilled day
Another apology for Sujan i was terrible company today because of my tiredness!!
So then after a bus home where Sujan showed his tiredness i made it here typing this blog!
So you are updated... Tomorrow i have no plans chill and a lay in
So this evening i am planning to go to Nina's for dinner really looking forward to that but untill then i have nothing more to report.
