Derek & Norma Exploring
sat left aucklandand travelled over the cocromandel penisula, stopping off at the hot water beach. the geo-thermal activity means that when you are on the beach with your feet just in the water, if you bury your feet by 3 inches the heat is unbearable, if you dig down with a spade you can get steam, its amazing. spent the night at Tauranga. we had the morning at the beach then travelled down to Rotorua, the hotel that Kathy has booked us into is superb, even I have ventured into the pool. tonight we are off to a Hangi, which is a traditional maori way of cooking food, by burying it and letting the hot steam cook it. afterwards there is a maori show.
