we caught the early morning ferry from wellington to the south island, arriving in Picton at lunch time. we had booked into a motel whilst in wellington but on arriving there we decided to stay for a couple of nights. the views of the mountains are superb to say nothing of the harbour. picton is such a nice place but apparently people just drive away from the ferry and miss this place out. we are having a couple of chill days to recover from and get ready for more excitement, will be leaving tomorrow to drive down the east coast to kiakora
