went on the whale watch and saw 6 sperm whales surfacing and diving also about 24 dusky dolphins playing also an osprey, all in all a good morning , the only downside was that the day before a blue whale had been seen and recorded. before we left kaikoura we were advised by a local to do the trans scenic rail journey if we had time, so when we arrived in christcurch we went to book , the ticket office had been closed for about 30 mins but they opened up to get us tickets. we travelled as far as arthurs pass where we got off and had 4 hours in the pass, walking around the forest and the waterfalls. again the scenery was brilliant as was the weather . today it is different its raining hard but warm, it seems as every other day the weather changes. off to geraldine now , thats a town not a lady
