Deborahs journey
Today i did a sky dive over lake taupo. Eventually managed to do after 3 days of cancellations due to the weather. It was fantastic, you have to put a red suit on over your clothes with hat, gloves and goggles and then step into this harness with loads of buckles and attachments which attaches u to the tandem master. Then i got introduced to my master and camera man and then we all go to the plane. The plane had to climb to 12000 feet, at around 10000 my tandem master says we are nearly there and attaches me and givesme some instructions. at this point i thought we might have a few more minutes to wait but the door opened and the first few people went. Eventually it was my time to edge forward and u dont have time tohave second thoughts as your legs go over the side and the master leans forward and u start falling. However at this point i did get scared as u were jumping into nothing and the height finally hits you. The next bit seems quiet fast as u are freefalling through the sky and its very cold as the wind hits you. My camera man comes close a few times and then all of a sudden u are heading up instead as the parachute opens up and u slow down and are in an upright position and can enjoy the view, this was of Lake Taupo and volcanoes and forests etc and was views all around. Soon you are heading to the ground and it all seems so quick, we land on our feet and unattach our selves. My legs were still shaking at this point and did for a long time after as i could believe i did it.
Will try to change picture when i get my film developed
