Deborahs journey
today was a day trip to Milford Sound, advertised as THE place to visit in NZ and the most beautiful place to go. We got picked up from Te Anau by the Kiwi exp bus at 9am (they left queenstown at 7) and drove towards MS. The weather was cloudy when we first left but soon the weather cleared to reveal clear blue sky, and made the scenary look fantastic. The mountians were all very round and green to begin with. we stopped at Mirror lake which had the reflection of the mountains in the lake. WE then crossed the divide to take us to the other side of the mountians where they were taller and more jagged, and rugged. THere were glaciers in some of the mountains and the views were awesome. WE drove trhrough homers tunnel which is cut straight through the mountains. just around the corner here is Milford Sound. a very tiny place where noone really lives. we got straight on to the boat and had a 3 hour cruise on the sound. this is a piece of water that heads down to the sea and has mountains on either side of it. this was good but not the amazing view i was expecting and felt abit let down!!! we also visited an underwater observatory where we saw black and red coral and some other cool fish and marine life. After getting off the boat we were straight back on the bus to drive the 4 hours back to Q.town. Moira stayed at Te Anau so ws back travelling by myself. after checking into the hostel was planning a quite night as i didnt know anyone but got talking to two girls in my room who insisted that i went out with them as they hadnt been out before!! it was another good night in party town and a fairly early one!! the next day i did have a quiet night in before heading to Christchurch.
