On Saturday 17th I went to Palm beach which about an hour up the coast. THis is also the home of SUmmer bay on Home and Away!! Its completely different to Bondi and Manly. Its very quiet and surrounded my national park. There is one tiny surf shop at the south end of the beach and one kiosk at the surfclub at the northern end. After walking along the beach trying to avoid the jellyfish that have been washed up i walked through the national park up to the lighthouse. From here i could see perfect views of all of Palm BEach and then all the way up the coast with the little golden beaches, It was beautiful. The walk was hard work as it was a steep climb along a narrow path and it was very hot. I had my lunch up here in the shade and then walked down a different path back to the beach. SPent the afternoon on the beach before heading back to the city.
SUnday 18th - THis morning i went to the market at the Rocks, didnt buy anything. Then i walked along the quay and to the gardens, sat here for a while, reading the paper and havving my lunch. THen i walked down to chinatown as it was chinese new year and there were some markets here today. It was extremeley busy and the stall were just selling food and drink. I did have some nice japense pancakes!!
Monday 19th - This afternoon i went to Balmoral Beach as it was nice and sunny. Then later i met my friend who i know from Berri in the city and went back to her hostel in Kings cross. had dinner with her and then went out with her and most of her hostel like i did last monday. Its nice to met some new people again and have a good night but is nice to have a flat to live in now.
Wednesday 21st - Today i went to La Perouse and Botany Bay. This is where Captain Cook arrived in the 1770s and where the first settlement of convicts from the UK was supposed to be before they thought that Port JAckson was better. La Perouse is named after a French Explorer who was in Botany bay in 1788 when the first ships of convicts arrived. He left after 6 weeks but never returned to France. THe twp ship wrekcs were found at an island in the pacific. The museum at La perouse is all about La Perouse himself and had items recovered from the shipwreck, It was very interesting. In the bay there is a red buoy to show where Captain Cooks boat was anchored. There are also a few little beaches here which are relly pretty and the water is very clear. I walked along the cliff to henrys head which is at the ehad of Botany bay. i was the only one doing this walk and was ver peaceful when i got to the end!! The whole area is still not very populated and is more of a dockland area for cargo ships. There were a few in the bay and a few out in the ocean by the mouth of the bay. I walked back to the beach but it was too hot to sit on the beach. instead i had an icecream and sat in the shade before getting the bus back to the city.
