Today I went trekking in the mountains surrounding Luang Prabang. I was the only person in the group but I had with me not only the tour guide but his three friends who was learning to speak English, before we left, I showed the students some photos of home and introduced some new words, they seemed to enjoy learning them and I they did enjoy it as well.
We first visited the village of the Laos tribes, the Hmong and the Khmu. We trekked for 3 hours until we got to Kuangsi waterfall. There it was a beautiful waterfall and I went swimming in it but not for long as it was freezing cold. We then got a truck back to Luang Prabang.
I learnt from the tour guide that he earn 300 000 Kip per week ($46.00 Australian). He told me that the people who live in the rural village earns a lot less but was not able to find out how much.
It certainly was a enjoyable day. The tour cost me $20.
