Hey everyone! Happy new years to you all!!! I hope you all had a great christmas and an even better new years!!! I hear today that there is heavy snow back home...its roasting here. My last few weeks have been very relaxed (apart from new years!) I've done alot of chilling out, a lot of fishing and a lot of drinking (in moderation of course.)
Before xmas i went fishing and caught some snapper as well as diving for Paua (a shellfish) we got some mussels and scallops fresh from the sea and had a huge barbeque. Xmas eve i went to the pub and had a great night out...i managed to catch up with Adam (old work colleague). Xmas day was pretty awesome, there was a huge gathering and we all enjoyed a massive traditional xmas roast. After lunch we all chilled out round the pool bathing in the sun, as well as having a game of volleyball in the pool. Such an enjoyable day, it felt so weird though that it was xmas and i was in the sweltering heat, it was different but a good different.I think i got sunburnt on xmas day.
Over the xmas period I was able to go and see Hunua Falls, another waterfall that was so beautiful (take a look at the pictures-although they dont do the place justice!), with John.
New years I stayed up near Matakana, at a place called Waiwera. I stayed there for about 5 days over new years, and enjoyed nights in drinking as well as a few hours at the thermal hot pools accross the road from our accomodation. For new years we all went up to a music festival in Matakana, and stayed up until 5am New Years day. It was a great night, i thoroughly enjoyed it. As 12 o clock came around I though to myself how last new years I was in Plymouth and said to myself that 2009 will be the year that i travel, and then this new year I was doing it and spending new years on the other side of the world, it was a really good feeling, it just shows if you put your mind into it anything is possible!
On my way back from waiwera i stopped off at goat island with Declan and snorkelled for about an hour and saw loads and loads of fish, more than when i went last time!
Since then I have fished almost every day with varying success, which has been good fun, and we had a few barbeques as the weather is so nice.
I'm staying with John now until Monday 11th, which is when i am off on my travels next. The first part of the journey will be the same as last time...Hahei, Raglan, Rotorua and Taupo. So hopefully at the end of next week i shall have more stories to fill you in with.
Thanks everyone for the christmas and new years wishes. I am sure that you all had a good one! Drop me an email and let me know what u got up to, wud be good to catch up!
Anyway, I will update as often as i can when im away. Until then, take it easy folks!
