Im currently in Alice Springs, and loving it. Its nice and peaceful here, a small town really in the middle of nowhere. The weather has been awesome, sun all day every day for the last 10 days!
I managed to find a job too after 3 days of looking, working in a restaurant called Sporties along the main high street. I'm only doing between 3-7 hours a day but its pretty cool there. Managed to spill a drink over someone a few nights ago, was very embarrassing! I am plannin on staying here for a while now, as long as i stay in work and have money from that then I think 2-3 months or maybe more to stay here. My feelings at the moment is to stay out in Australia as long as possible.
I miss Brisbane but feel at home here now.
The farm job didn't go ahead if i havent already mentioned because the farm got flooded! Yes I thought the same, I'm in the hottest part of Australia and it gets flooded...but I think it was a one off. This news did throw my plans up in the air, but I've got the most important thing out of the way and that's finding a job here and getting money.
Currently staying in a hostel 5 minutes walk from town, Alice lodge backpackers. Chilled out kinda place, but will look to do a room share in the next few weeks so that my accomodation costs are reduced slightly.
The only thing that puts me off about Alice is the locusts! if you imagine your average grasshopper in the UK, these things are basically the same but 4-5 times the size, they fly round everywhere, I had one land on my back the other day and couldnt reach it to flick it off, it was horrible!!! lol!
Also went to a reptile centre and had a snake wrapped round my neck, really weird but cool, and i also got to see my first crocodile too...scary!!!
Also, the sunsets here are so beautiful. Ive heard about the vlocanic eruption, how are the sunsets back home? Apparently the news said they were gonna be pretty spectacular!
I'm hoping now with my job that I can save a bit more money and my first aim is to save enough to go to Uluru (ayers rock) and Kings Canyon on a 3 day tour. Everyone that I have spoke to who has passed through the hostel has said the tour was amazing, so I am really looking forward to it.
I'll try and update again soon. Also I've taken a fair few pictures that I'll try and put up soon...the sunset, reptile centre etc.
Chow for now
