Hey everyone!
It's been a good few weeks since I got here to OZ, and i can tell you that the humidity and heat here is intense!
I flew into syndey and spent a couple of weeks there. My hostel was pretty cool, and had lots going on. My first day I went to Coogee Beach, which is a 10 minute bus trip from the city center, we had a BBQ and a kick about before going into the sea jumping through the huge waves. The heat on that day was intense, I kept slopping on the sun cream but i could still feel myself burning. But it was a cool day n I was able to meet a few people. My second day was spent walking to the Opera House, which was a 30 minute walk from the hostel, again it was very hot. The Opera house was really cool, I walked round the outside and got some good viewsof the Sydney Harbour Bridge too. After that I spent about 2 hours walking through the Sydney Botanical Gardens. I really enjoyed the peaceful gardens and felt really relaxed there. During my week in Sydney I also went to Manly beach for a day, I went on the OZ party bus (naughty me, but I had to do it...lots of drink involved!) and generally had a pretty cool time. I also went on a day trip to the Blue Mountains. Such a beautiful place to go to, its a huge National Park filled with Eucalyptus trees. The name Blue Mountains comes from the blue haze that comes from the eucalyptus trees. The famous Three Sisters are situated in the park also, the commonly told legend of the Three Sisters is that three sisters fell in love with three men from a neighbouring tribe, but marriage was forbidden by tribal law. Battle ensued, and the sisters were turned to stone by an elder to protect them, but he was killed in the fighting and no one else could turn them back. Amazing place tobe though. Unfortunately though the weatehr wasnt all that good when I went...it was mostly foggy so I could hardly see anything! From Sydney I went to Bondi beach for a week, and enjoyed chilling on the beach most days and swimming in the sea. Me and a few others also did the Bondi to Coogee beach coastal walk, an hour or so from one beach round to the other, then back after having stayed at the beach for a while. On my last night at Bondi i stayed up all night to watch the sun rise, beautiful! From Bondi I travelled up to Brisbane to see an old work colleague. We spent the week up on the Gold Coast, near surfers paradise. Went out on a couple of nights and had a great time. I'm now currently in Brisbane again, Fortitude Valley, trying to find some decent work. I was able to go to Mount Cootha the other day actually, some awesome views of the city from there. And I was also able to from there go to the Royal Botanical Grdens, again having a peaceful time walking around. At the moment I've got a door to door sales job, rubbish pay but I'm hoping to find something with better pay soon. At least I'm earning a little bit of money, the only hard thing is trying to motivate myself when almopst everyone says they're not interested. I'm selling cheaper electricity for a company called Integral. I'm not enjoying it too much, its tough getting through each day. I may even be lucky enough to work on a farm in Alice Springs within the next month or so. Exciting times. It's been a bit hard getting back into the work mode though, but I'm sure after a few weeks I'll be fine.
I hope you are all ok back home. I've missed home quite a lot in recent weeks, but I know that if i were to come home I'd be missing out on a great opportunity out here.
If I have missed anything out I'll update again in a week or so.
Take it easy everyone, its raining loads here too so your not missing out on too much :D
