Ameland - Holland 07.07.15
We wake to the sound of the church bell ringing furiously at 8am. Mariska & I are wondering if this was an emergency & maybe the island is going to be swamped by a tsunami. But we learn later at breakfast that this is normal @ 8 in the morning. Apparently the church bell rings at night as well but we were so sleepy we did not hear anything.
We had breakfast out on the terrace with sunshine and quiet country scenery. This was followed by tompousse. Then a quiet walk to one of the local windmills which produces mustards.
Soon enough at noon, it was time to say our farewells and get the ferry & drive to the train station to return to Vlaardingen. Yvonne made meatballs & they were scoffed on the ferry. We wished we could have spent more time on the island to recharge ourselves but we only have another 3 days before we leave Holland.
We get back to Vlaardingen at about 6pm and have dinner of make-your-own mini pizzas cooked in a little portable mini pizza oven. Back in our second home again, we plan to go to see the SS Rotterdam tomorrow.
Second last dose of Freisengeist tonight, Rob has been rationing so there will be one last tomorrow night.
