After 3 long days in Hong Kong we have decided on an easy day by Stanley beach a half an hour bus ride away. Total change of pace, we have strolled the streets taken our time to browse the market stalls and been mugged three times by different gangs of school kids doing surveys on globule warming.
We were enjoying a nice selection of dim sum in a small beach bar when the sky became very dark our host started to pack away tables chairs and sun umbrellas around us. We took this as a sign so we ran back to catch the bus and were sitting on it when the heavens opened.
The trip back took a bit longer as we hadn't realised the bus to Stanley was the express, the return bus however was not and rather than go through the impressive tunnel under the steep mountain we went over the top which was really spectacular in the downpour.
Jumped off the bus near our hotel and ducked under canopies in a market street until we reached one of the entrances to our local metro station, the stations are so big here and there are so many entrances you can walk a considerable distance underground.
Finally made it back to the hotel an hour from setting off which we thought wasn't bad.
On our 73p bus ride we passed a Ferrari dealership, then a MacLaren dealership and finally a Rolls Royce dealership. We have seen several Masseratti and the odd Porshe with Lamborguines being quite popular. Mainly for posing as the constant traffic lights mean the buses go faster.
Sat in our new local: 2 Erdinger for £9.00 is a bargain. We are dodging the rain drops tonight for the American restaurant which is a Chinese; confusing place HK. More Asian confusion when the restaurant refused to sell us the Peking duck on the basis it was too big for us. Now we know why everyone is so slim: the government must have roped in the restaurants in prevention of obesity. Had to settle for delicious chilli king prawns and some noodles. Then off to club 7-11. The bars are so expensive, the convenience stores do a roaring trade to takeaway drinks.
