Welcome to Vancouver – home of the 2010 Winter Olympics… And what happened? Canada won the gold in the hockey – it was like the whole nation partied! Not us though we were on the longest bus journey ever – (18 hours that could have been done in 10 or less).
The ride was actually really beautiful, through the heartland of Canada.
So we arrived in Vancouver and got an apartment in the first 3 days! Now that is success for you. Its pretty nice, cheap and furnished and a good walk into town that is giving us some great exercise – around 45 minutes to town, 10 minutes by bus . It’s a funny named place too, Mount Pleasant.
So we had a big night out on Dave’s birthday in Granville (very commercialised), we have been to Yaleton, Gastown, Kits beach, the West-end, Chinatown, and have seen wild racoons that surrounded Dave in Stanley Park.
Stanley Park is one of our favourites although we think it will be even prettier in the summer. Kits, Gastown and Yaleton are also really great areas to visit, very quaint and trendy.
We saw Alice in Wonderland at the cinema which was pretty good – Very Jonny Depp, and even joined Costco… How very civilised of us!
So far so good really, we actually started our first jobs this week (unfortunately not full time). Vancouver’s a great city and we are settling in nicely – just need constant jobs now! and of course we need to visit Cypress Mountain and Whistler. Dave’s got a new Board setup so I am sure it wont be long…
