So the girls left to go back to the UK after a few more days in Vancouver. I think certain shops in Vancouver could close for the rest of year esp. the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Shop and any shop with Canada Hoodies. Now that its public knowledge the girls also decided to get Tattoos (nothing to do with us Jean – we swear!) so they visited Sacred Heart Tattoo Studio, where Dave also got his a couple of years ago, and another one a couple of days ago. As most of you know Danny left for his 3.5 day greyhound bus journey back over to Boston and with the girls now gone, our apartment is very quiet! We did miss waking up and stepping over Dawn who was asleep on an airbed in the lounge, and the amount of treats in our fridge has definitely taken a dramatic fall.
So for us, the time has come to really knuckle down, we have had a revised look at our finances and decided that the planned trip to the Yukon was unrealistic (esp. since we saw virtually everything in Tofino and Watch Lake). So we have decided to accompany Ewan and Mindy down to California and then onto Central America from there. So that’s our plans, obviously after our Alaska cruise which sets of in 5 weeks.
We are however still getting out, we have spent the passed 2 weekends at Kits Beach and a place called Deep Cove for Megan’s Birthday. We haven’t seen a drop of rain since the girls left and temperatures have reached the early 30’s. Deep Cove was gorgeous, it’s a small fishing village set to the side of Mt Seymour in North Vancouver. We hiked the Bayden Powell trail to a sensational lookout point and had a picnic by the beach. Funny that this place is not overly publicised, but it’s definitely a hidden gem in Vancouver’s amass of places to see.
Mindy also baked Megan a cake for her birthday which was very kind and full of chocolaty goodness.
So all in all this will probably be our penultimate update until we leave Vancouver behind and head for Alaska.
