So we returned to Vancouver for Canada Day, which Megan and I both had off work so could spend the whole day with the girls. We headed to Granville Island, where we watched the festivities and got Dawns face covered in Canadian Maple Leafs. (luckily they did come off the next day after numerous face washing sessions). This was shortly followed by the biggest burgers you have ever seen! And then a trip downtown, where we watched the most god awful parade! Seriously I have seen better parades going down Edlesborough Highstreet. It was dreadful! Although Dawn did get to see her illusive mounty, sadly there were no proposals from Mountys - she did however get chatted up by the bus driver! And has a new Canadian name of Dono...
Suddenly the song from Due South came into mind as I typed that! Good old Benton Fraser.
Anyhow enough of our childhood memories, it was off to the stalls where yet again the chocolate and donuts got all sold out! I have no idea where they put it all… The Olympic flame was alight for “one night only”, and we sat getting ready for the Fireworks display over the bay. They were not disappointing at all and made up for the abysmal parade.
I think they both are having a good time, lots of giggling and some very Jean like laughing! (That scared me slightly as I thought my godmother was behind me at one point!). During the days Megan and I work, they have been to Stanley Park, Downtown shopping, the Aquarium and Gastown. I think today they are riding the seawall on a Tandem – which I can’t wait to see the photos!
Seattle next – that is if they let these two miscreants in! And no I am not talking about Megan and I…
