Dan and Lu's Travels
After yesterday's walking antics we thought we should save our feet a bit and get a cab down to the Meatpacking District for brunch.
We loved the area on Friday night and wanted to see it during the day too. Its charming. All cobbled streets and wide roads, cool little bars and places to eat. Had brunch sat outside Vento. It was a warm day so was nice to sit outside and watch people passing by. We were told by the waiter that they serve tapas style food, people order quiet a few things and share. This was fine by us so we ordered two pizzas and salad. The salad came for us to share as a starter and consisted of 6 and half lettuce leaves. And none of those old fashioned big leaves either - really small twiddly ones! So we fully expected the pizzas to be Iceland party pizzas and decided to get a hot dog from a stall on the way home. But they came and they were the perfect size, so all was ok!
Wandered round the area after eating and picked out where we'd want to live, then walked up through Chelsea and saw some gorgeous New York brownstones. All iron railings and big steps leading up to the front door. Walked through Chelsea and Hell's Kitchen (sorry Leah!) and back to the hotel where we went to the sky terrace and had a couple of beers.
Went and sat by the fountains at Columbus Circle and ate french fries before bed.
