Dan and Lu's Travels
Had a lovely day today. We left the hotel this morning and bought croissants and fruit from a street stall then went to starbucks and got coffee before returning to our roof terrace to have breakfast and plan our day.
After a very leisurely breakfast we made our way to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), stopping at Columbus Circle near our hotel, which has fountains that we relaxed by and soaked up the atmosphere.
MoMA was fabulous, a goregous space, which was very inviting and relaxing. We spent a long time looking at Cy Twombly's Four seasons series, from a bench, a balcony and other random places in the museum that you could see it from. We also sat in the sculpture garden for ages, just chatting. The garden is like a courtyard surrounded on three sides by the glass walls of the museum and on the other two by a wall onto the street. From there you can look up and see about 15 different styles of buildings reaching up to the sky.
We then wandered around near Broadway, had a late lunch in a little Italian place then retired to the sky terrace again to saok up some afternoon sun before getting ready to go out.
Went out quite late and headed to the rooftop bar at the Ganservoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District on reccomendation of the consierge at the Hudson. The bar was full, and had amazing views over Manhattan and good cocktails! We then went across the cobbled street to Pastis, which is very french style boutique cafe bar. Absolutely packed but we managed to get a table in a corner and ordered wine and food at midnight! It was a fantastic, very cool and stylish but not at all pretentious - just laid back cool.
After a long meal we went back to the Hudson bar, which was really busy, they were only letting certain people so it was a good job we were staying there! It had more of a weekend feel tonight and the DJ was playing ome really good stuff. We sat at the bar and had quite a lot to drink.....!
