Lets take this gig global!!
well, its been an active few days here in Welly. Its been great catching up with Sam although we havent done too much stuff together yet as he has been studying for an exam whilst I have been out all day taking in what wellington has to offer. On Monday I spent a while on the internet and in the public city library doing some research for Fiji and the Cooks as I havent got any guidebooks for them. I'll tell ya - from what Ive seen and read, I cant bloody wait!!! Bring on the sun and beaches again! Tuesday was a more touristy day and I started off in the Te Papa museum, Wellys prime attraction. 4 hours later I emerged slightly hazy after taking in upteen sights and attractions and a ton of information! It was a really impressive place though with bang upto date, ultra modern displays and most of it is interactive including a house you enter to experience what an earthquake is like, a walk through the earths core and you can even see what life is like from a sheeps perspective which is pretty funny!! The best part for me though was the special Lord of the Rings exhibition going on. I could write a whole update just on this section (but dont worry I wont!) but it stole the show with loads of stuff from the sets, all the costumes and weapons actually used by the actors, loads of multi-media stuff and interviews and reveals alot of the secrets into how the film was made - most interesting was how they make the Hobbits so small on screen. Clever stuff! But all in all it truly amazes you at the detail, time and money spent on creating such a film. It really is unbelievable and sometimes a little ridiculous!! After a spot of lunch I had a quick nosy round the National Tattoo museum which was ok then headed back downtown to check out the shops and street life of wellington. Today, I have been in the arty farty mode and visited the City Gallery which had some pretty nice pieces then onto the City museum (not so great) then the Academy Gallery which was really good!! Finally today the weather is looking brighter after three rubbish days of rain, bitter wind and cold so I may well venture upto the Cable car to take in the view and stroll back down through the Botanical gardens. We shall see. Its been a little weird the past few days and Ive really felt like I am at home again in a strange way. The guys are currently looking after their mates' dog who has been sleeping in the lounge with me. She is a little 10 month old Golden labrador, cute as hell and really reminds me of Daisy (my dog at home) -Ive even been taking her for walks!! So with that, the weather and English TV programmes it has kinda warped my mind a little! Looking into Fiji the other day really felt like I was planniing another trip all over again! Kinda weird!! Anyways, I wont ramble on any more, besides Im probs not making much sense!! We're off on the town tonight and I think I'lll be leaving Welly on Friday now. Next stop.......ummm, not sure yet, you'll have to wait and see!! Take it easy y'all Dan
