Lets take this gig global!!
G'day folks, just a quick update now to let you know that I have arrived in NZ safe and sound. The flight from Sydney was dandy and on time. Made me laugh though as it was packed full of Korean/japanese tourists!! I was sitting next to a Mr Miagi stylee old dude who made me chuckle even though it was a conversation more in sign language than English! he seemed either bemused or amazed at my thumb ring for some reason and almost fainted when I told him that I was gonna be here for 5 weeks!! he is here for 5 days!! Anyways after a little 'emotive' chat about Australia and snowboarding oh and an awesome lunch of beef pastrami sangers and about three fruit cake slices (the Koreans dont eat much!) I turned off for a long powernap as I have been up since 4am watching the footy final! (Zizu, what were you thinking mate??!) Anyways, a few pleasant dreams later I was awoken by a polite tap on the shoulder from Mr Miagi pointing out the window, going "look! look!" And I was glad he did wake me, what a view!! As we were passing some absolutely stunning mountain ranges, covered in snow and it was a message the tourist board are probably slightly proud of! BANG! Welcome to NZ!! Its just a shame you're not allowed to take pictures on the plane. Once in town, I checked into my hostel which is nice and homely (great bed too!!) and took a stroll around. I havent seen too much yet to be honest but from my small first impression Christchurch feels pretty tiny but very pleasant. I will have to explore in more depth tomorrow. right off back to the hostel now. I'll put an update on later in the week when Ive actually done some stuff. Take it easy, Dan
