We have spent the last few days in the historic city of Hoi An. We took the train from Hue to Danang along what is considered to be one of the best train routes in the world. Our train passed rice fields and mountains and trundled precariously along cliff edges while we looked out to sea. From Danang we hired a taxi to drive the short distance to Hoi An.
We hired bicycles for the first day and explored the surrounding area, we had a lot of fun seeing farmers riding buffallo, and dodging chickens! We sampled the local specialties for dinner, Cau Lao (fat noodles in broth with bean sprouts and pork) being a highlight.
For the second day we visited a few of Hoi An's cultural sites including the 400 year old Japanese bridge and traditional houses. We watched locals making handycrafts and even saw a folk music and dance show. The town is also famous for its tailoring and Liz got an outfit made to measure for $13!
Lots of love,
Dale and Liz xxx
