Hello all,
We have made it into Vietnam! Hanoi is so fantastic, we love it! We stayed in the Old town, a very pretty area with red tiled roofs and hundreds of bicyles pilled high with fresh flowers! On our first day we met up Zin, a friend we made in a hotel in india. She showed us some of the sights of the city and took us to try the famous hanoi fried fish, which was lovely. We visited a few war museums dedicated to the french and vietnamese wars and learnt some history.
On the second day we saw the much celebrated Ho Chi Minh (dead), his body preserved and on public display. We visited his museum which depicted his life through interpretive art, a bit confusing! We also saw one pillar pagoda and the temple of literature, before searching the streets for the remains of a B52 that landed in a small lake and remained there ever since, an eerie sight when we finally found it (with the help of rather enthusiastic locals). In the evening we went to the famous water puppet theatre that had Liz in stitches for hours afterwards. On our return please ask to see the coconut video!!
love Liz and Dale, see you in Halong Bay xxx
