We only stayed in Noosa for 2 nites as it was purely used as a stop gap just to break up our long journeys and also a base for which we could go to Steve Irwins Australian Zoo as it was much cheaper booking it from Noosa than Brisbane. We checked into the Koala Beachouse hostel which felt like being in a freaky horror movie. The hostel was eiery with the most disgusting room i have ever seen. The room was filthy with dirty walls, mouldy shower and duck tape holding the roof up. There was chewing gum all over the place, huge spider webs and somethings growing under the bed which i couldnt even describe. The room was suppose to be private as we paid more for this but half way through the nite it became clear the room was not private but had two other rooms connected by doors which came directly into our room. We realised this when a naked man appeared in our room followed by a near naked women in the middle of the nite! Very uncomfortable!!! This nakered couple also kept leaving the door to our room wide open while they totted back and forth in during their naked esipades. Lets just say none of us slept very well that nite and once again, we decided to check out of the crappy hostel and find a nicer one.
A nice one we did find, it was called Dolphins Beach House and it was lovely. More like an apartment than a hostel as we has our own kitchen and living room with sofa and a TV. NICE!!!! There were hammocks and ping ponk in the communal area which i made full use of.. me and Jordy also worked out we were rubbish at ping pong!! ;-) When settled we all went for a walk to see what Noosa had to offer... we soon realised ....not alot! We attempted a walk which i think was through the botanical gardens but we ended up getting lost (suprise Suprise) and ended up in a housing estate with HUGE houses. One of the houses was named 'Salty Bits' -i thought that was very funny and insited of having a photo with the house, luckily my east coast ladies have a similar sense of humour to me and also had pics with the house! lol! :-)
We decided to ask directions when we got bored of walking and asked two men who were working on a house. The men invited us into there HUGE house as a short cut to the beach. Now... thinking back... we should probly should not have gone into a strangers house but there were 6 of us and only two of them so it was ok! ;-) Turned out they were only builders refurbing house which was worth over 1 millions dollars!!
The builders pointed out how far off our track from the fab view at the back of the house and we quickly made our way down the shortcut to the beach instead of continuing the walk. Noosa beach was gorgeous and there were loads of jelly fish some of which were so small i almost stepped on one. (images of monica in friends spring to mind- dont wanna be doing that on my hols :-)
Possibley my favorite day so far was going to Steve Irwins Australia Zoo!!WOOOO!!On Arrival at the zoo we headed straight for the koalas! I was the first to hold the koala and have my pic taken, which i now regret as the koala decided to have a poo on me while i was holding him! The next 20 mins were spent topless in the toilets trying to clean off the poo stain! Good start! The koala was amazing tho never the less. They normally sleep like 20 hours a day (much like my dad) so it was great to be able to see one awake and give him a little cuddle! We moved onto the kangeroos next. I was so excited to see a kangeroo and more so because you could actually walk amoungst them freely and they were not enclosed or caged in. We fed the kangeroos and i was suprised how relaxed they were. Now, i dont know if we were feeding the old, tired kangeroos or they were just having a chilled day cos of the hot weather but they were not as 'hoppy' as i expected. They actually looked quite fragile. We fed them until food ran out and they stared getting aggressive then we moved on to watch the crocodile show. The crocs were huge and the man who was feeding them was a bit nuts as he put his hand in the water.... like the water the croc was in and wiggled it around so the croc would chase him! Hmmmmm!! Not something i would like to do! The croc did chase him and to be honest i think he was a little scared! lol! Check out the video to see if u think he looked scared! The closest i got to a croc was the fake one outside which i bravely sat in its mouth! The zoo wasnt massive but we did see elephant, lions, more koalas, snakes and lots more animals! Before leaving me and Jill took part in the 'Can u jump as high as Steve' game. This game was self explanatory and after around 13 attempts which were hillarious... me and jill finally did an awesome jump! Pics to follow! :-)
The only other thing we did in Noosa was get free BBQ at the local pub and then walk back to the hostel... in the pitch black.... through the rain forest! OK, if i tell the truth i started walking, got scared that i was in the middle of an outback horror movie and got a taxi instead! Sorry for being a weed girlz! :-( Something i learnt from this experience is know where ur hostel is.... the taxi man had no idea what hostel we were in and we spent 20 mins trying to find out the address! Grrrr!! Should av walked through the bloody dark forest instea!
We borded another bus onto Rainbow beach which i was pretty sick for so didnt do anything but sleep! We then made our way next to Harvey bay which was our gateway to getting to 'Fraser Island'.
