Up bright and early for our preparation to go to Fraser Island and everyone was very excited apart from me as the idea of camping always freaked me out abit. However i was here to do new exciting stuff and thats what im gonna do! Me, Ash, Gemma and Maria all went to the safety briefing about driving the jeep, basically telling us not to drive too fast or the jeep WILL roll and we WILL all die! At this point i realised i had forgot my driving licence and the thought crossed my mind as to not tell them and just put fake details down, however the whole rolling and killing everyone would not go down well if i wasnt insured so decided against this and decided not to drive! Which i pretty gutted bout this as was looking forwardto driving a jeep on the sand and through the rainforest , but oh well! I now focused my attention on helping to pack the jeep with all out food and equipment and after meeting our 3 new recruits who would be joining us in our jeep, we made our way to the island.
When we arrived on the island we went stright into a jungle following a convoy of other jeeps which would lead us to the beach and then we would be on our own. It was very exciting and i felt a bit like we were on the island from 'LOST'. The track was bumpy with tree roots all over the place and hardley any daylight comign from due to the massive trees. Sitting right at the back of the jeep without a seat belt was not a good idea as i suddenly found myself flying through the air and headbutting the roof of the jeep when he hit a BIG ass tree root! Seatbelt was tightly fastened after that!! We arrived on the beach and it was so beautiful i was in awe. The sand was so soft and the sea was so blue! All you could see was sand, sea linded by the masses of trees from the forest. There were no houses and most of the time, no civilisation. We were given a map and told where the best spots to see were. The island adventure began!!!
Our adventure hit a temporary glitch when we got bogged in the sand. This just made it more fun though as we all had to evacuate the jeep to dig the jeep out of the sand and seen as thought there were no boys to help us in our hour of need, i think we managed pretty darn well!!
