The past few days have been very interesting to say the least. On Thursday we spent most of the day just kicking the footy in the sun, as the last few days have been really warm, so much so we both got burnt yesterday!
Thursday night is Student Night at The Live Room, and we enjoyed cheap drinks all night. Much of the night was spent with a group of locals who are hip-hop professionals. The group is made up of dancers, rappers, lyricists and camerawomen. We had a great time with them, so much so that Luke managed to fulfil a life dream of his. (That being hooking up with a black girl with cornrows.) For those of you who don't know, cornrows are when someone's hair is all braided, like in the film Like Mike.
Friday we managed to watch the Geelong/Collingwood blockbuster at the local pub, trying our hand at darts during the breaks. Later in the afternoon a friend of ours from The Live Room, Neil, took us to Enfield and Alexandra Palace to do some shopping and sightseeing.
Friday night of course means one thing to us, Live Room o'clock. However for the first time since we arrived, the Live Room let us down. We were home by 12.30, but at the time it seemed logical to go down to the local park and jump in the pond without our clothes on. At home this process if referred to as skinny dipping, but here the locals call it crazy.
Yesterday we went to the Camden market for the day. It was very warm which ensured it was a great day. Camden market is about twice the size as the Vic Market, but with a completely different layout. Camden has a canal running through the middle of it, with stalls on the sides. The coolest thing about the market was the way the food stalls are set out. They have huge wok-like pans out the front of all the stalls with various curries, pastas, rice etc bubbling away. They also offer tastings before you buy lunch. We settled for Thai, where you have a container you can fill up with whatever you want.
