Today is gunna be the day that we're gunna throw it back to you.
Sorry, still in kareoke mode after we smashed out some Oasis and had the crowd going wild.
However Florence was a lot more interesting and entertaining than just kareoke. It is the home of Michaelangelo's statue of David, famous for leather products and a shopping stronghold.
We spent our three nights at Plus Florence, probably the best hostel in the world. Our twin room had a double bed and a single, and a coin toss ensured Whitey and his bed bugs got stuck with the single. To top it all off we had a flat screen tv, an air con and a spacious bathroom that allowed pissing and basketball to happen simultaneously. But the best part of the hostel was the pool and terrace bar. The pool was complete with LED lights that changed the colour of the water every few seconds, which set the mood adaquetely. There was also a sauna, but even better, Turkish Baths (steam room). We spent a fair bit of time in the steam room and it got you sweating like umm well it goes unsaid.
The terrace bar was on the top floor of the building and extended onto the roof. The roof overlooked the whole of Florence which was magical, especially at sunset and at night. The old one metre rule had to be enforced at sunset, just to make sure nothing got wierd. Can I just take this opportunity to reitterate that things definitely did not get wierd, ever.
On our first night Busabout offered a walking tour which included dinner. We jumped at the opportunity and it was a good intruduction to Paris. The tour also included a tour of a leather shop with a demonstration which was interesting. The shop had some great stuff but it was slightly out of our budget. The tour concluded at a restaraunt where we had a really nice four course meal. After dinner we all headed to a kareoke bar, where a few select ladies were offered another "course" but most politely declined! At the beginning of the night we decided to help get the party started and got up on stage to belt out Wonderwall, the Oasis classic. What made it even more impressive was that we had no lyrics. Of course the inevitable happened and I ripped my shirt off, but anyone who knows me would expect that. I ended up singing Mr Brightside with Jodi, a girl I met, and we did a bloody good job of it if you ask me.
Our second day we spent mainly shopping. There are some great markets around Florence and out bargaining skills were on display once again. All the shops have summer sales on now as the European summer is drawing to a close. We took full advantage of that in Florence, picking up some bargains. Mat is very pleased with his 10 for the price of one deal with bed bugs. The shopping is not the only good thing about Florence, the Italian women are stunning. I give a special mention to a brunette who rode past on a bike and smiled in my general direction. My heart rode off on that bike.
Our last day in Florence was spent trekking up to Piazza Michaelangelo, which overlooks the whole city. It is probably the only view that can compete with those in Prague.
It has been two weeks since we have had a day under 30 degrees and hopefully that stint continues now that we start hitting the beaches.
We head to the Cinque Terre today and we just stopped off in Pisa for an hour or two. The leaning tower was everything we imagined and Pisa was actually a really nice place.
