We said goodbye to Chiang Mai this morning, although I'd really like to go back again to explore more of this lovely city. We arrived at Bangkok airport and jumped into a taxi, the traffic was horrendous! When we finally got to the Banyan Tree hotel, the taxi driver missed the entrance by about a foot, and despite us offering to walk, he insisted on driving all the way back around the ring road in the grid locked traffic. He also insisted on saying "Anyan Tree, Anyan Tree, Anyan Tree" all the way around, which got that annoying that Si had to put his fingers in his ears! After what seemed like an eternity, we got to the hotel, and were taken to the club lounge on the 19th floor to check in. Here, we were told that we had unlimited free drinks, cakes and pastries, all day and night! How good?! We were taken to our room by the receptionist, who told us that we had been upgraded for free! The room is amazing! We're on the 32nd floor, so have an amazing view, and there is a bath made for two, a separate sitting room and bedroom, and two tvs! We're gutted that we haven't got more time here! Before we got too settled, we had to pop out to collect Si's tailor made suit, which looks great, and then back at the hotel we checked out the spa.... Wow! It's slightly more expensive than we're used to, but so worth it! Si had a back massage, and I had a foot and leg massage, both followed by a complementary neck and shoulder massage. It was incredible, you could definitely tell why it cost a bit more. After the massage, we went back the room and enjoyed a bath together to carry on unwinding, but before long it was time to get ready for our meal. While I was drying my hair, I hadn't heard the door go, so jumped a mile when I saw a random woman in the room! Turns out, it was the maid, who had come to make the bed ready for us to get in! As if! I wondered if she was gonna stay to tuck us in too! We made our way up to the rooftop restaurant, Vertigo, which we had to walk up to from the 61st floor! The views from up there were stunning! When the waitress brought over the menus, she also brought over a little torch, so that we could read them! It was quite dark up there, which I guess was so that you could see the views better. The darkness did mean though, that every time we tried to have our picture taken, neither of us could keep our eyes open enough for the flash, so we've both got squinty eyes on the pictures! The food was beautiful, and served really well, and we even got a complementary picture, on which we've both got squinty eyes! All in all it was a fantastic meal, with fantastic service and fantastic views, we would definitely recommend! We're back at the room now though, still quite tired from the big night in Chiang Mai, and we have be up at 4.45am for our journey back to the UK. We've had a fantastic last night in South East Asia though!
