Well the first day didn't start too early as we were shattered from the travelling and lack of sleep. We left the hotel at 10 and made our way to the Grand Palace. We weren't sure what to expect but as soon as we entered a tour guide ( Mr Miagi ) came straight over to us and offered to give us a private tour. This turned out to be worth while as he took all the photos of us.. Bless him. He gave us an in depth guide behind the temples and the reasons for all the Buddhas, I mean there were thousands... All very interesting. There was the Emerald Buddha, Marble Buddha, Sleeping Buddha and Happy Buddha, to name just a few.... We then continued our little tour with Mr Miagi, which took us through some riverside markets ( which were ramo'd) and onto the river where we had a private boat cruise to some of the floating markets and to feed the thousands of fish. I mean there must have been more fish than water, and they ate like piranhas ...... Once we had finished our tours and said our good byes to Mr Miagi, who by the way is 76 and still going strong, we jumped onto a tuk tuk and started a mini tour of the diamond export factory, which was clearly a load of con artists, though we weren't fooled and continued on... Before we headed back we had our last stop at a tailors, which again they tried to blag us by saying they were the best tailors in the world according to the national geographic, which he showed us and there was one in Bangkok but was across the road, lol..... Either way I wanted a suit and got fitted for one.. So the ball is rolling, will be back for a refit on our second visit to Bangkok in a few weeks... So by this time it was around 4 and we were famished so got the tuk tuk to take us to the Siam Paragon, where Emma actually managed to fall asleep and almost fall out. I mean I thought the hot rod was a challenge to fall asleep in......We were with the tuk tuk guy for almost 2 hours and for him to wait for us, he only asked for 30bahts or 60p so the generous tippers that we are we gave him 100bahts... Still not sure on what's the right amount to tip..... We went back to the food hall for something to eat, but this time went less traditional Thai, and went to an Italian for a pizza! It was tasty though.... We had a wonder around the shopping mall, and decided to go back to the hotel pool. Unfortunately, the pool was freezing! So we just dipped our feet in. We've just got back to the room, and have decided to have a power hour, so that we're fresh for tonight,
So peace out and much love, Simon and Emlar .......
