What a night! Feeling a little bit delicate this morning, but I think that as soon as I eat I'll be much better. So, we went for food around 7.00 last night, and the food for all was average.... We left and headed for Pub Street to find somewhere to celebrate new year. It was chaos! So busy.. The music, which came from speakers stacked higher than a bus, just suddenly started playing music and Andreas, who was stood next to it, actually pupped himself. So funny to see......We struggled to find somewhere we all agreed on, so while we were waiting, a couple of us got a bucket, we had vodka red bull. Well, that's what we asked for, they used sambuca instead of vodka and it was horrific! So Si drank most of that. Genevan then bought an actual vodka red bull which I accosted.... I noticed the locals taking photos of Si with his bucket, and when I saw a girl posing behind us for a photo, I just got in the photo with her. Suddenly, about 7 people wanted photos with us, including a lady holding a baby who tried to make it look like the baby was drinking from the bucket! I felt like a superstar! We finally all agreed on an Irish bar, which sold vanilla vodka, so I was happy! We stayed there for a while, and we had a good laugh with everyone. Si was forced to make speech when he stood up to take his malaria tablet! And Andreas can do crazy eyebrows that look like two birds flying! Funny! About 11.00, we went down to Pub Street to go to the street party, but when we got down there, it was even worse than before! It was gridlocked, and after about 30 seconds, we lost half of the group! When we found them again, we still couldn't all agree on one place so we agreed to go our own ways. We went to a pub that was on the corner of Pub Street so we could dance to the music inside and out and it was slightly less busy. When 12.00 struck, the fireworks went off over the street and then we all carried on with the party. Around a hundred rounds of shots came over to the table, and it would be rude to say no, although I did give a couple of shots to some randoms while no one was looking. As we were leaving the bar, I was amazed to see that the street kids selling crap were still up and working hard! Si bought me a rose from one girl, to shut her up I think, and then he had a little dance with her, she can throw some serious moves! I then used that rose to annoy the kids trying to sell me stuff, by trying to sell it back to them. They got quite annoyed by it, and when they said that they had no money but I did, I showed them my empty purse, and they soon cleared off. I didn't tell them that Si had my money though. Bloody kids! We got back around 3.30 (we think) and ate a mars bar from the mini bar because I had the munchies. That'll cost us..... We had an amazing night, and now we're set for a very chilled out day!
Happy New Year! Emma x
Wow, what a great night, street party, shots, cocktail, buckets and dancing.... We spent the last day of 2011 with such a quality group of people. Dancing in the streets of Seim Reap!, so surreal, class!...... Didn't get in until half 3 so was absolutely shattered today, to be fair though it was our free day today and decided that we are going to take it soooooo easy and what better way than not setting an alarm and getting up naturally about 12 , yes! 12 .. And it felt amezen.... We had a walk into the main part of the city and enjoyed some traditional Cambodian food, so I had beef and Guinness pie, ha, well I haven't had gravy for 3 weeks and I was having massive withdrawals. It's still 33 degrees too which is tough but we're coping,,. We then headed to the market to see if we can get something for the house, as we're trying to get something from each country. So far we have lanterns from Little India in Singapore, chopsticks from Vietnam and place mats from Cambodia... I think we're doing quite well. We then left the market as the smell from the food hall was very bad, fishy bad!... On route back to the hotel Emma's eye was caught by the jewellery shop, standard... And found some earrings she had to have... Crazy, not to expensive though... We headed back to the hotel as we had a full body massage booked, which by the way was amazing,.... For a little over 10 dollars with tip for an hour!.... Though the lady did have a cheeky look at my man bits and I think she touched my left man giblet by accident, but fully enjoyed ;-) ...... No happy endings though....... So now we are relaxing for an hour until we need to start getting ready for a farewell Cambodia meal as we're are Bangkok, Thailand bound first thing tomorrow and we are expected to be on the bus for a little over 8 hours :-O ... Oi trio Oi!... Not looking forward to that, any way speak soon, much love,.
Actual Moon!......... X x
