After leaving Port Gregory & the Pink Lakes we travelled to North Hampton a lovely old historic town with some magnificent old stone buildings.
From here we headed north to Hutt River Province now known as the Principality of Hutt River. The full story of Hutt River Province is quite amazing but in a nutshell in the late 60's Leonard Casley had an argument with the Australian Government regarding wheat quotas & as a result Hutt River Province seceded from Australia on 21 April 1970.
HRH Prince Leonard is no joke, he has beaten the Australian Government at every turn, he has legally paid no income tax to the Australian Govt since Hutt River was proclaimed !
Upon arrival here we were met by HRH Prince Leonard (he is now over 90 years of age) he showed us around & entertained us with stories, we even got a visa each & if we had our passports we could have got them stamped as well.
A very interesting place indeed!
