Today the boys & I went to the National Transport Hall of fame just south of Alice, this place is a must see. There are hundreds of trucks here as well as vintage cars & motorbikes & also the Ghan Museum. We spent 4 hours here but we could have stayed longer.
It was great for the boys to learn all about the transport history of the NT & SA, from the early days of Tom Kruse & his mail run out to Oodnadatta & beyond through to the huge roadtrains of the modern era.
The Kenworth section was amazing, the Railway "Ghan" part of the museum was more written history & photgraphs & not many displays.
Trish had a fun day shopping
Tuesday 14/7
Today we explored the East MacDonald Ranges, we called in at Corroboree Rock, Trephina Gorge which was a spectacular walk around the rim & through the Gorge, then we headed further west to Arltunga which was the first major town in the NT, Gold was discovered here in the 1870's sparking a Gold Rush however not alot of gold was found & today only ruins remain.
We finnished the day off with a cold Coopers, Champayne & Ginger Beer at the Ross River Homestead.
