Thanks from peru!!!Summary of Trujillo!
Well what an amazing experience!! I have to say it was truly life changing and Jess and are proud of what we did. So many people touched our lives forever and I am hoping that we did the same.
So we collected about $700 dollars for the Wawa Wasi houses. There are 12 wawa wasi house with 8 kids in each, they get the bare minimum of funding from the governmet so they were in despereate need of things. We bought blankets for the cots and beds in winter, sheets, plastic for the walls because the bricks are terrible and animales come in, foam mats for the floors because at the moment the kids play on the ground, shelves for the toys and other little things. we bought a set of necesasary items for each wawa wasi.l
It was amazing experience and very rewarding delivering the items. We visited all the wawa wasi in the area, at one stage we were walking through the corn fields delivereing to the poorest of areas, the men in the areas couldnt believe that there was a gringa walking around! Jess was getting a complex because they all stared at me was pretty funny!
The lady in the picture of this blog she is the boss, she has been volunteering for about 7 years. we were at her hosue first she does not have a toilet and is very poor but still volunteers. she has a well in the back yard becasue she does not have running water i tried not to look amazed but found it hard to take in really!
The last day the ladies made us a lunch which was so nice and made a sign saying thankyou it was very cute. we went out salsa dacing the last night we were there with our friends. We also recieved lots of amazing presents from our friends. Trujillo was such a great expereince and will stay with me forever.
