I apologise for the delay on the blog, this will be along one becasue a lot has happened. So New Years was good I met two girls that live in sydney but are from peru and have family staying around the corner so i went out with them to this peruvian dance thing then at 1 we went to a night club and danced until 7 in the morning it was fun!
Jess arrived I picked her up she was also culture shocked but i think it made it easier that i was there. We have been to the beach, we went out to the night club and she has started work at the wawa wasi (day care centre this word is in quecha which is the inca launguage). It has been great jess with jess here lots of laughs and good times although it is hard changing from spanish to english so i end up talking spanglish! My spanish is ok now, i can underdtand people but it definately needs a lot of work.
Jess and I have had lits of fun dancing here, we have decided that is is humiliating becasue the guys here are AWESOME dancers!! It is very different than oz, the guys have one or two beers then just dance all night unlike australia where guys just get drunk then attempt to dance and never succeed!!
So we are learnign we learnt salsa the other night but we feel like the men are sexier than us which is not fair and unless you are really born as a ltin american you just look like a gringa (white girl) trying to dance!!
Work!!
I have started work at the orphanage this week! I have to say i am very suprised, i was expecting it to be poor, sad and generally hard. The orphange is run by St Vincent De Paul and is funded by germany which means they are very well off! The orphange itself is beautiful with beauthifl gardens and nice rooms!
Except, it is actualy a convent and well if you ask my mum I am not exactly suited to a convent style situation! The nuns are so unfriendly and nevre speak to me. The kids are so bored becasue they are on vacation at the moment but cant go out of the house ever! I feel very confused about the whole thing the girls that live there were mainly abonded baceause their parents could not afford them! But it is a nice place to be they have lots of nive clothes, a toilet a shower and food! Its better than what they would have had if they lived at home. There is a new baby in my group she is one month her mum was 14!!! The girls love me as you can imagine becasue they are bored they love something different. I am happy i have had the experience to see the orphange but i thin i will work at the day care centre the last week i am here i think i make more of a difference there. It is a massive contrast!
I will send photos of the orphange soon!
At the moment we are in cajamarca, it is in the mountains 6 hours form truijillo, it is very high i am feeling the altitude, I climed one set of stairs and was puffed. It is nice here very different to Truijillo, green!
Well thats all I miss everyone and hope you had a good xmas and new year.
Love Chloe and Jess
