Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the messages and support! So last weekend we went to Cajamarca which is a town in the mountains about 6 hours from trujillo. You can look on the map on this site. We left on thursday night and arrived in on friday morning, I was kind of glad to travel at night because the buses here are a little crazy and I would prefer to not see out the window! Cajamarca is a town that is relatively high in the mountains so we got off at five in the morning and it was frezzing and hard to breath! W spent friday just looking around at the beautiful city. There is a church on the top of this hill that i swear to god i climed three steps and was dying becsue of the climate, btu we managed to go to the top and see the view of the city! Which is a little underwhelming when you see a view of a third world city!! But the surrounding mountains were beautiful!
The Saturday we went to the Baños de Inca which were kind of hot springs but you went into this room and filled up the bath yourself! It was nice though we went at 5 in the morning becasue the water is meant to be better for your skin! We spent the rest of the weekend seeing the sites the usual, waterfalls, churches, etc etc! It was a great weekend. It was a little bit vrazy in cajamarca though becasue they celebrate caranavale like brazil so for some reason people decide to throw water bombs and bags of water on you and becsaue i was about the only white girl in the whole of cajamarca I was a prime target!! Then on sat night we decided to skip the nightclub because of budget restrictions and go for a walk. The main square was FULL of people basically getting drunk and dancing around whilst people played instruments! It was awesome of course everybody wanted to talk with us and dance with us especially the men! My spanish was tested! It is funny here because everybody thinks Jess is from Italy or Peru they get confused when she cant speak spanish! We returned to Trujillo on sunday, it was a great weekend andi think the photos speak for themselves.
This week is my last week in trujillo, we have raised over $600 for the kids so we are going to buy nappies toys and food this week we are pretty busy trying to see everyone before we leave.
I will do one more post to sum up the volunteer experience! Love you all
John thanks for the email in spanish! I am updating my travel plan on this site but will send you an additional e mail soon!
Love Me
