Hello Everyone!
After a very very long walk of 2-3kms wearing our heavy backpacks we finally reached our hostel in Coffs and of course the first thing we did was to have a nap! Once refreshed we headed for the beach to have a look at the well known pier and also went shell hunting. We found a few really nice shells as you will see in our photos. We messed around on the beach drawing our names in the sand and chasing hermit crabs until it got chilly. That night we treated ourselves to a thai curry! (Clare's new favourite takeaway!)
The next day we rented a car for the day. (Not really sure if it can be called a car but there you go, it added humour to our day!haha) We drove to a nearby Dolphin sanctuary first of all where we had a brilliant time. We got to stroke a dolphin, clare got kissed by a dolphin and a seal on the cheek and we watched the show which was brilliant. Dolphins are such intelligent animals it's amazing to watch them! They played football, did jumps, walked on water and even danced to happy birthday! We could have stayed there all day but seeing as we had the banger of a car we decided to move on!
Next stop was Dorrigo National Park. We got told that this was just up the road by a local ozi but it was 60kms until we had reached the first stop in the park! That gives you a slight idea about how far the distances are here!! We parked the old banger and had our picnic lunch with a very brave bush turkey! (Sara, you will be happy to know that we did use our sporks!haha) After lunch and a look around the visitor shop and art gallery we went for a walk around the rainforest. This was supposed to be a small walk but we took the wrong turning on the way down and ended up on the 7km walk! haha Not a problem though as we have both become extremely fit and a 7km walk now feels like a stroll in the park! :-) It was so nice walking in the rainforest, there were birds everywhere and as it had been raining recently the waterfalls were in full swing! Walking through the rainforest was kind of like the Eden Project for those of you who have been there! The humidity, noises, smells and sights were briliant! We walked through and behind waterfalls, some really big ones! As it was getting late we had to make our descent back into the town to drop the little old banger off and say our goodbyes!haha An early night as our bus leaves at 6am in the morning!xxx
