Spent the last few days in sunny Koh Samui. We left Bangkok and headed to the island on a VIP bus. We assumed the bus would be full of other travellers heading the same way... but no, we were the only westeners on the bus - so a bit like lost in translation!! There was a monk on the bus tho - so we knew we would be safe!! Journey wasn't too bad, but Clare was ill :( so not great. Anyway, arrived in Koh Samui about 7.30am. The sun was rising over the Island and it looked beautiful. We thought we would be proper travellers and blag accomadation - unfortunatly the first beach we tried was full.. so onto Chaweng. Fairly touristy but just what we needed after Bangkok. Eneded up at the Samui Resortel. A really nice place right on the beach. We were soooo tired the first day after 15hours on a bus that we slept all day!!Then had some tea and slept some more. The nightlife was ok in Chaweng, although mainly older couples and families. We spent our days relaxing by the pool and playing on the beach. The beach was gorgeous - nicest sand in the world!! Other than that not much else went on during the day! One of the highlights of our time there was living in a hut!! Was very cute! And we had a visitor - larry the lizard! He was a fast little b***** so we never managed to catch him!! Other than that Clare has been bitten to death 13 in total!! James is very badly burnt - no bites though.
The last night was the most interesting.. there was lady boy show at our hotel. This mainly consisted of 6 men miming to western songs in dresses. 5 could have easily been mistaken while one was just a fat man in a dress!! Very funny to watch. Then we headed into town to see a crazy man sing.
So all in all just lots of relaxing - we have good tans now though! Moved over to Koh Pang Ngan today - very eventful... stay tuned for all that and more in our next installment! Take care xxx
