Well hello, from a very hot and sweaty (also slighty stinky) Bangkok! We arrived here Tuesdy afternoon after a very long plane journey - the man in front of Clare insisted on havin his seat FULLY reclined throughout the ENTIRE journey - idiot! Anyway, arrived at the hotel and were pleasantly suprised! Very clean and spacious - but no window!! Went down Kho San Road, a famous travellers road for tea and drinks. Very cheap!! Tea with drinks cost about 4pound! Koh San road is mad - very busy with tourists and young locals. Lots of market and food stalls - luckily our hotel is a couple of streets away so not so noisy!! The first day we donned our tourist hats and headed for the grand palace (particually early for us 2pm!). Was an amazing sight, everything is gold and covered with Jewels - very impressive!! We wandered around the outskirts of the palace and after a wrong turn got conned!! Hurrah - 6quid to feed some sodding pidgeons - we don't even like pidgeons! Found another market by the river - a bit more authentic - but very run down. We took another wrong turn and nearly ended up in a very dodgy shanty town! We quickly scarpered back to the safety of our hotel!! Had our first Tuk TUk experience - we got very dirty feet. Next day we slept in until 4pm!! Official line of protest is our room has no windows... but you can make your own minds up!! We headed over to Siam sqaure - much nicer - very modern. And after on 3 days we gave in and had tea at The Hard Rock Cafe (Where drugs and Nuclear Weapons are NOT allowed!). We did feel a bit shamefull but it was soooo good. We then headed to Pat Pong (Parents read ahead at your own risk!!) This is the "Cultural" area. Not half as seedy as first anticipated - altho we did see a lady smoking a cigerette out of somewhere you really shouldn't Not many lady boys tho - much to Jims dissapointment!! Today we have had a nice lazy day. Went shopping and got some BARGINS!! Birkenstocks for 3pounds and Ray Ban Glasses for 2.50gbp - faker than Jordans boobs but we are very pleased! Heading over to Koh Samui tonight - so plenty of lazing on the beach.. UHHH
