Hey all
Ok so ive arrived and seem to have shrugged off the jet lag!! not to mention my killer first night hangover! Met all the group last night...went down kho san road again and found myself dancing on tables again!! haha!
Today we've been on a river cruise in a really scary looking gondala thingy that has such a scary fast engine!! We sped down the river holding on for dear life!! very very fun!! Then we went to see lots of buddhist temples including the reclining buddha! which is nothing less than awesome!! and we climbed this scarily tall temple...with the world steepest steps!! all the places ive seen have just blown me away...its seriously the most fantastic place!!
On the way back to the hostel from the temples we took a tuk tuk! my god...i thought i was going to die!! speeding down busy streets and turning corners! It was worse that the wild mouse rollercoater at blackpool pleasure beach!! haha. Again...very very funny though!
Then we've just been to the swimming pool on the roof terrace for some food and drinks! Just heading for my usual mid afternoon nap (somethings never change!! haha) before hitting the buckets again tonight!!
We check out of our hostel tomorrow and head down to kho phan yan on the over night train for the rest of our week! Im hoping to get my bangkok photos uploaded tomorrow so you'll get a preview of how mad it is out here!!
Tonight we went down onto koh san road...but went to a bar called gazebo...just to the right of gullivers. This bar is by far the nicest ive been to since getting to bangkok. Its an open top roof terrace bar with a live thai band...singing british songs badly...but the atmosphere was fab. Here a few of the guys decided to chip into some sheesha to go with the drinks. After 3 bottles of vodka and 2 bottles of samsong rum..it was fair to say we were all pretty much hammered!! So someone from the group decided that we should all go and sample the delights of bangkok. Do we got into tuk tuks and raced around the streets of bangkok. We ended up at this huge brothel...with free ping pong show at 3am in the morning!! im pleased to say the club was closed so we just ended up in another bar. At 5 am...we some how ended up at a 24 hour mcdonalds in downtown bangkok!! probably the most random thing ever!! There was 2 thai children...probably younger than 4...walking around trying to sell us flower necklaces and trying to beat me at thumb wars...needless to say i was weak and bought two flower necklaces and lost 3 thumb wars....cost 100 bt (about 2 quid)...not to mention all the other guys in the group that bought roses...those thai kids probably earnt their parents more than their annual income from us...we must have had mug written across our foreheads!! haha. We arrived back at the hostel at about 6 am.
Our last day in bangkok was spent shopping at a huge centre in downtown bangkok called mbk. It was full of tiny little shops selling knock off stuff. I decided to buy a rucksack...for 4 quid...so i could half my backpack and leave it in storage in bangkok until my flight to sydney. This seemed like a fab idea and i seemed to take loads out...but my backpack still broke my back carrying it to the train station.
We departed from bangkok at 6.30pm and arrived in Surat Thani at 7am. Long trip. I had a tiny top bunk in a cockroach ridden carriage...worse was the fact that we were next to the urine stinking toilet...which was less of a toilet and more of a hole in the bottom of the train. It was by far the most culture shocking thing yet...thai people walking up and down the train trying to sell you deep fried cockroaches and chickens feet!! luckily i came prepared with water and a packet of crisps!! haha.
Ill write again when i arrive in koh phangan..until then....Love you all x x x x
