It has been a few days that I haven't wrote...so sorry! It has been a hectic but fun couple of days and I am now ready to sit down and tell you everything I can about my little adventure! Sit down, relax and let me catch you up!
First of all I left you on a little bit of a low note! Mom told me my diary entries were starting to sound depressing! I must be giving you the wrong impression because I am definitely having lots of fun...just jumping over some hurdles on the way! We have now a new teacher onboard, Sharon who is so nice! She overpowers Alison which is great! We have been rehearsing the new show 'I Got The Music' which premiers tomorrow night! Whooo....another one down! The other 2 full productions have been going great! 'Piano Man' gets a standing ovation almost every show and we get so much feedback from the passengers who seem to love it! We have one more show which we have already learnt but has to be put up on the stage then we learn one more and we are done! The rehearsals are certainly worth it because performing every night is amazing!
The life of a cruise ship dancer is so much fun...and will be even more fun once we finish rehearsals! The social part of it is massive. I have found there is really no such thing as weekends...every night is a night at the crew bar and no matter whether its Saturday or Tuesday there is always some kind of party to attend. Being under 21 you are not allowed to drink...rules are bent of course but it is such an effort hiding your drink from security. All I have to say is thank goodness we are friends with the officers...they have more authority then security so they buy me my drinks at least
(oh what a nice smile gets you hehe!) At the moment in Alaska we have a few sea days traveling to one place and the next. The definition of sea days... sleep and eat! It really is the worlds best excuse for being lazy! We never have rehearsals on sea days because the theatre is being used for movies, lectures and things and with the weather being so cold laying in bed or catching up on your journal is really the only thing to do....oh my sister would be so jealous! It does get a little boring but really who's complaining!
What else can I tell you about my leisure life?? Alaska is simply beautiful! It really is a different world out here! I have seen Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan...and they are all very similar. The towns look like they are out of Universal Studios. They are all very clean and it almost looks like a little western town. All the buildings are made from wood and the main stores are either fur or jewelry. It is very old fashioned but I kind of like it! College Fjord and Glacier Bay are insane! They are the scenic cruises which has all the Glaciers and wild life. The first time we were there there were 15 hump back whales just doing there thing. The naturalists said it was so rare to see that many at one time...wow...what an experience! The Glaciers are incredible as well...I know what you are thinking...its just big blocks of ice. Oh its so much more then that! The glaciers crack and fall into the water but because of how huge it is you hear the thunder crack about 3 seconds after it actually falls. A couple weeks back you could see all the sea lions lying out on the ice bergs...I tried to take photos but they are oh so small!
3 more weeks of Alaska and then we are off to Asia! Whooo!!! We have a very busy week next week learning the new show for the 7 day crossing to Russia. It is going to be a hectic week...the people that have already learnt the show have bets on who is going to cry first!..it is that overwhelming apparently! I am just going to think positive...if I got through rehearsals in Alaska then this is going to be a piece of cake!
I know I have missed out telling you so much but I will write tomorrow as it is a sea day and I have really nothing better to do with my time!
