Same day, next event: Tiger temple, the massive tourist attraction with the opportunity to stroke and have pictures with Bengal tigers! although sounding scary, these cats were very 'tame' or from what we could tell, very drugged! Made it a safe and an amazing experience, but not one to appreciate.
Finally after a long day we looked forward to a night on the river, but first another boat ride, up the fast flowing river into the jungle until eventually reaching our quaint bamboo hotel. Over looked by the powerful jungle and screamed at by hundreds of crickets. This really took your breath away, waking up with mountains and fast flowing water just outside your bedroom, as well as very fresh (freezing) showers!
The highlight of this tour is the waterfalls found a short journey outside of Kanchanaburi. 7 tiers of breathtaking waterfalls with fresh mineral water flowing down the mountain, from tier 1 it is a 1.5km hike to tier 7, each tier offering its very own piece of paradise with pools to bathe and naturally formed water slides.
Hellfire pass; another section of the railway built from Thailand to Burma, where Thai and Western soldiers were put into slavery to cut a section from the mountain to allow construction of the track, the past still reverberates through this mountain, you get a real sense of the pain the slaves went through while walking 2km down the track. Although this area brings some of the best scenery I have seen so far!
