Kanchanaburi - 24th Aug 2013 - 27th Aug 2013
So the early night failed again! 6am alarm just seemed to come too soon! With heavy heads we started the long busy day as planned.
First stop Ratchbui for the locally famous, floating market. Transport to the market by speed boat, breezing through the canals with houses, shops and tree canopies looming over the brown silted water! 15minutes went by, we pulled up next to a little wooden platform and rounded in groups to go into the floating market on paddle boats. Slowly drifting through the manic chaos of both speed and paddle boats, that crammed the already tight canal. Boats full of tourists and locals selling their goods, shouting 'YOU WANT BUY?' While pulling tourist boats in to theirs with long hooks, selling everything from thai cuisine to tacky souvenirs!
Next stop the world famous river Kuai. Not the most exciting experience, however the histoy made you appreciate every moment you spent there. With over 100,000 men dying to construct a 452 kilometer railway, spreading from Thailand to Burma, in just 18months. These men consisted of Japanese prisoners of war and Thai labourers
