Ok, too much to write and not enough time....
Ko Samui - This is the island that you go to if you like places such as benadorm... malaga etc etc. It was very nice from what I saw but full of English people being d*** . For example, the first night we went out, we saw a fight cos some drunkard was incapable of standing up straight and knocked over a Thai person's moped.
Mopeds... I was walking out of a 7/11, gutted, because Freddy had just finished telling me about the moped crash he had witnessed as I was buying a milkshake or something. Whilst I was considering how life would have been if I had seen this event and feeling slightly sorry for myself. Another moped crash came about right in front of me. Perfect. Apparently drink driving is slightly more common in these areas. I was later to find out that the hospital was filled with people who had fallen off their mopeds, probably whilst attempting stupid stunts but never the less preaching their conspiracy theories at me.
Other than this I spent the remaining few days on the island in hospital. Which was a very nice hospital but I felt like s***. All the nurses liked my hat. Fred and the girls we had previously befriended (Ania and Mietta) were waiting for me to get out so we could move to the better island of Ko Pagn Nan (spelling probably wrong).
Ko Pagn Nan - After our initial mistake of hitting up the wrong island we managed to head to the north west of this island, finding some form of tropical paradise. Look at the photos, it's amazing. Not only was our bungalow a very cheap place to stay, but it was right by the beach. We also quickly befriended a local Thai man, Art, who's restaraunt was lovely enough to spend my birthday dinner.... (I got a cake and a bracelet for my birthday).
To explore the island a bit better we rented out a jeep (there was talk of mopeds but we had all seen too much). We found a few nice places during this exploration, including a small monks village, a beautiful beach that you had to wade out to from another beach, a place to watch muay thai boxking (this was fun), and a waterfall, which turned out to be a bit of a creek with a rope swing... so we all jumped in which was great fun. I'd certainly recommend to anyone this part of the island, it's less commericial and has nicer surrounding areas.
Ko Phi Phi - This island was a very fun one and a little bit more of a party one. The place is full of things to do at night such as fire shows and bars, one of which you get a free whiskey bucket if you stand up in the ring (of course there's a muay thai ring) and fight another likely pisshead. Our other favorite bar was on the beach filled with dangerous games such as flaming limbo and try to jump over the rope that's on fire that only stops when it hits someone (only got burnt a few times). These are the beach bars where you are most likely to lose your flip flops and perhaps even return with an odd pair if you are lucky.
This island is one of the better looking places in the world, just a short boat trip away is the beach where they shot the film 'the beach'. It's very nice....as is the surrounding area. Had to move to a different part of the island after a misunderstanding invlolving air conditioning in a room that we were staying in. We managed to make it work without paying for it and the lovely french owner was unimpressed. Singing green eyes to her didn't seem to calm her down for some reason. Anyway we paid up and left before things got out of hand. The beach we moved to was good fun anyway, although it was ridden with mosquitos and I nearly died by narrowly avoiding stepping on a presumably deadly snake. Beautiful beach and water though. Then we left for Singapore... expect no blog for that...
